Security at IKEA manhandled and shoved peaceful protestors out of IKEA’s North London store who were demanding the reinstatement of USDAW shop steward Richie Venton. Richie was sacked by IKEA for fighting against plans to cut sick pay in the Glasgow store during the pandemic – not only making it impossible workers to self-isolate, but jeopardising the safety of the surrounding community too.
IKEA have a history of blacklisting trade unionists, and are currently on trial in France for colluding with the police in keeping trade unionists under surveillance. What they’re doing to Richie is another clear case of blacklisting – and it will not be tolerated.
