Crying for the Carolines – a song by Pete Deane about the wood pellet scandal in the Southern United States. To find out more, go to biofuelwatch.org.uk and dogwoodalliance.org.
The Carolines, North and South Carolina, is one of the most bio-diverse regions of the world. Logging is fragmenting this ecosystem, driving more and more unique species to the brink of extinction.
Every year 13 Million tons of wood from this region is turned into wood pellets and is shipped across the Atlantic Ocean and is burned in furnaces at Drax Power Station to generate electricity for UK consumers.
This is falsely labelled as “Green Energy” and is subsidized by the British public to the tune of £2M per day.
