Birmingham City Council have been given something else to think about today as Persons Unknown shut down Tom Whites’ Coventry depot – the company running a scabbing operation to try and break the Birmingham binworkers strike.
The council had obtained an injunction to stop all direct action in Birmingham in support of the binworkers – but the injunction didn’t include Coventry. So Tom Whites was blockaded instead to mark the one year anniversary of the binworkers going on all out strike.
The blockade, alongside the news today that Labour is set to be wiped out in the council elections in Birmingham, plunges the council even further into crisis.
Isn’t it about time they tried talking to the binworkers? Or have they just given up running the council at all?
