One of the less well known demos during the April Extinction Rebellion protests – but without doubt one of the most important, as a multitude of organisations came together to protest at Drax’s AGM over their plans to build the largest gas power station in the UK.
Drax is already emitting huge amounts of CO2 from its power station, which is also the largest burner of wood for electricity in the world – allowing this project to go ahead will make stopping runaway climate change impossible.
Sign the petition at change.org/axedrax – and come to the Reclaim Power action camp in July to take direct action to stop the power station being built. You’ll also be able to take part in a serious of fantastic talks and workshops explaining how climate change is a systemic problem directly caused by capitalism and colonialism. Details at the end of this short film, as well as online actions you can take straight away.
