Huddersfield teachers strike to defend Louise Lewis

Running Time: 3:54

Teachers in the NEU at North Huddersfield Trust school have been forced to take strike action to defend their union rep, Louise Lewis.

Louise was trying to make sure management did proper risk assessments during the pandemic so that staff, pupils and the surrounding community was as safe as possible – but instead of working with her, as most schools have with union reps over the past year, head Andrew Fell has taken the astonishing step of suspending her pending discimplinary action.

Louise is not the only NEU rep being victimised at the moment for basically trying to save lives – but they won’t get away with it. As the strike today shows, more and more teachers are standing up to defend their reps.

***UPDATE*** The strike action was successful – Louise has now been reinstated.
