Film length: 12:16 The revival of Martin Luther King’s 1968 Poor Peoples Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival has spread to 40 states in the USA, with over 2,000 people being arrested for taking direct action at state governments throughout the country. This was the campaign that King was assassinated for – a campaign calling for an end to capitalism and for democratic socialism. The first phase of the relaunch was a six week, 40 day campaign of direct action culminating in a march on Washington on June 23 – this is from Week 2 in California, at the Government building in Sacramento.
